Awards, media coverage and proud moments

CleanSea never set out to win awards or make headlines - our focus has always been on protecting our coastline and cleaning the ocean. That said, the recognition we’ve received along the way shows us that our work is truly appreciated and it fuels us to keep going.

We make every award count for the ocean - and always use award money to remove more plastic from the ocean.

2024

XO Foundation

XO Foundation is currently helping CleanSea to scale up and remove more plastic not just today - but tomorrow, next month and many years into the future. This leads to far more plastic being removed in the long term. This support is hard to quantify in exact kilos, but it has led to several thousand more kilos of plastic being removed.

2022

Änglamarkspriset

One of the most sustainable prizes in Sweden. In 2022, Änglamark voted CleanSea into being the finalist for the Änglamark prize. This actually enabled us to remove 2 500 kg of ocean plastic!!

That's quite a lot of ghostnets, cans, plastic bottles and other harmful trash out of the water.

This prize also has a special place to us. At the time, CleanSea was still in a somewhat early stage and run based on passion. This was one of the first prizes we ever recieved, and one of the largest we've received. It showed us that more people wanted to support our work. The additional financial security meant we could focus more on long term growth and helped us develop. We removed 2 500 kilos of plastic, but it also boosted our growth and confidence.

2024

Bixia Klimathjälte

Someone we knew told us we "should totally apply for Bixia Klimathjälte". Afterwards, we learnt they'd had over 600 applications. We had no clue that we would be among the most appreciated alternative - so it was a complete shock when we got the phone call and learned that Bixia wanted CleanSea to receive the prize! It led to another 2 500 kg of ocean plastic being removed, which is a huge win for the ocean!

2023

Östersjöfonden

Immediate celebration in the team - when the Baltic Sea Foundation wanted to draw attention to CleanSea and support our work! Another 500 kilos of marine plastic were removed from the Baltic Sea through the Baltic Sea Foundation's youth prize - absolutely fantastic!

2021

Naturbonusen

Naturkompaniet took a big step towards protect Sweden's oceans and marine environment in 2021, when several different groups that care for Sweden's marine environment received their Nature Bonus and the capacity to do more. CleanSea was one of them, and thanks to Naturbonusen, we were able to clean over 100 bays and coastal stretches where we removed many thousands of kilos of marine plastic. Amazing, right?
